Boca Raton Community High School - Our mission is to develop knowledge, skills, and character that will empower our students for responsible citizenship, higher education success, and productive employment. July 20, 2022 

Emma was nominated and invited to attend the National Youth Leadership Program in Engineering at the University of California Berkeley over an eight day period.

This immersive program introduced her to the overarching principles of engineering, including the design thinking process and how it, along with other key concepts, can be applied across a variety of engineering disciplines. Over her incredible eight days, she and some new high school friends that she met from San Diego, New York, New Jersey and elsewhere explored their passions while being exposed to the vast array of engineering professions. She and her team also applied their newfound skills to assist in building a prototype (CAD and physical) for a long distance refrigerated drone to fly medicines to areas with very poor access.  They did this by designing their solution to meet some of the Sustainable Development Goals set forth by the United Nations.

Overall, I would say that she had a good experience - She even got to wire and program an Arduino board to control and fly a helicopter drone. (Lucky)
